Haute Couture time in Paris is all about the fantasy. This Spring season, embellished gowns of tulle and crystal sashayed down the runways and the beauty looks that accompanied them did not disappoint. Read on for my top picks of the week…
2013 is all about change. Let go, move on, learn and discover.
Say it with kindness. With flowers, synthetic feathers, face paint, braids, wreaths, headdresses, bronze, glitter, sea salt, bare skin, an open mind and a free spirit.
One of my favourite looks of Spring/Summer 2012 so far is from London it-girl label Mulberry. Gorgeousily luminous skin, a soft pop of blush on the apples of the cheeks and a wash of white matte shadow on the lids. But of course, the standout from this look is the hair, thanks to Sam McKnight. The top of the hair was backcombed into a super high beehive with the rest of the locks left textured, loose and natural. Pastel coloured streaks were worn by a handful of models in a stunning shade of soft turquoise. Love!
Like any beauty addict, you have been following the looks from New York Fashion Week, trawling your favourite sites for daily updates. By now, you can probably tick off the major trends before they even hit our shores: Ponytails! Yellow peepers! Bronzed and bare faced!
Here are my favourite (and least favourite!) looks from the week that was from one of the greatest cities in the world…
I have to admit, I never even thought about the idea of plaiting my hair since I was about 10. That is, until Alexander Wang sent his models down the runway with thick, long side plaits. And then I was hooked. The thing is, there are soooo many variations and so many different ways to braid your hair, it really can never get boring. Ever.
The trend for dip-dyed hair doesn’t seem to be slowing down and personally, I am loving it. Easier to wear than a full mane of colour, dip dying your ends in hues of pink, purple, blue or red is a great pick me up for anyone who is easily bored with their hair. Once it’s bleached out, you can change the colours as your mood dictates. Sick of it already? Chop and go!
Old news, perhaps. But the trend for bright lips isn’t going anywhere and the grown-up take on pigtails make it such an easy look to emulate. The backcombing makes it perfect for those dirty hair days when you just don’t feel like wearing a pony. There is just something so playfully gorgeous about this look that graced the pages of every fashion glossy last season that it can never be truly forgotten.
