Nothing contours up summer quite like the image of a Lolita-esq girl with bronzed, colt-like limbs, lolling around in the summer sunshine, sucking on a popsicle. Lips stained fruity shades of strawberry, watermelon, apricot, cherry, raspberry and peach. Whether you prefer to wear your bright pout in glossy, glazed shades or barely-there tints, pair back with nude or minimal make up to make the colour pop.
There is something about the cat’s eye that has made it a timeless make up look. A simple sophisticated flick of liquid liner on the eye paired back with lashings of mascara create a wide eyed, classic look that is at home with a nude lip as it is a bold coloured pout. Use a steady hand and think old Hollywood glamour.
She has heavy black, smokey eyes; smudged and slept in black liner; tousled bed hair; black, glossy nails and bare lips. She has black liquid eyeliner flicks; hair teased and quiffed up upon the crown; dewy skin and long, dark lashes. She is messy and disheveled and yet some how sexy and nonchalant.
Haute Couture time in Paris is all about the fantasy. This Spring season, embellished gowns of tulle and crystal sashayed down the runways and the beauty looks that accompanied them did not disappoint. Read on for my top picks of the week…
2013 is all about change. Let go, move on, learn and discover.
Say it with kindness. With flowers, synthetic feathers, face paint, braids, wreaths, headdresses, bronze, glitter, sea salt, bare skin, an open mind and a free spirit.
One of my favourite looks of Spring/Summer 2012 so far is from London it-girl label Mulberry. Gorgeousily luminous skin, a soft pop of blush on the apples of the cheeks and a wash of white matte shadow on the lids. But of course, the standout from this look is the hair, thanks to Sam McKnight. The top of the hair was backcombed into a super high beehive with the rest of the locks left textured, loose and natural. Pastel coloured streaks were worn by a handful of models in a stunning shade of soft turquoise. Love!
Like any beauty addict, you have been following the looks from New York Fashion Week, trawling your favourite sites for daily updates. By now, you can probably tick off the major trends before they even hit our shores: Ponytails! Yellow peepers! Bronzed and bare faced!
Here are my favourite (and least favourite!) looks from the week that was from one of the greatest cities in the world…
With technically only 3 weeks left of winter, I thought it would be appropriate to post about one of my favourite makeup trends for the cooler months- dark, gothic lips. We saw this all over the Fall 10 runways and again at the Fall 11 on the lips of models for Gucci and Missoni. Having such a bold pout is a dramatic & strickingly alluring look when the rest of the face is kept bare. Chanel Rouge Noir lipstick is my all-time fave. Continue reading
Do something different this weekend and celebrate with rich, deep smoky eyes in eye-popping jewel tones. Think emerald greens, ruby reds, plums and violets. Steer clear of the pre-teen chunks of glitter (unless you are Daria Werbory posing for an editorial shoot in Vogue) and stick to subtle shimmers and metallics. Keep it wearable by lining your bottom lashes with an eyeliner brush dipped in the same colour as your lids.
Old news, perhaps. But the trend for bright lips isn’t going anywhere and the grown-up take on pigtails make it such an easy look to emulate. The backcombing makes it perfect for those dirty hair days when you just don’t feel like wearing a pony. There is just something so playfully gorgeous about this look that graced the pages of every fashion glossy last season that it can never be truly forgotten.
