Haute Couture time in Paris is all about the fantasy. This Spring season, embellished gowns of tulle and crystal sashayed down the runways and the beauty looks that accompanied them did not disappoint. Read on for my top picks of the week…
The smokey eyes at versace were given a twist with a pop of neon green liner on the inner corners of the eyes and flicked out in a cats eye. Hair was scraped back and pulled into a textured, thick ponytail.
Giorgio Armani Privé
Semi-matte lips in shades of brick red with wet, slicked hair could have echoed a 90s grunge revival but teamed with bold, modern eyes gave an almost futuristic feel. Geometric shadow was smudged above the crease and echoed lightly below the lash line.
With such gorgeous and intricate gowns, models faces were scrubbed fresh and clean for a ‘no make up’ translucency. No mascara and bare lids. The only hint of colour was a subtle pop of lilac eyeliner at the lash line. Perfect innocence.
John Paul Gaultier
Smokey eyes were smudged in wings out to the temple and accented with crystals on the inner corner. A crystal beauty spot above the lip was reminiscent of a futuristic Amy Winehouse character, with the hair teased into a super high bouffon.
Skin was kept translucent and matte with bare lips as all the attention was on the models gothic eyes. Heavy, black, waxy, smokey eyes was smudged out of the lids to the temples and down onto the cheek bones resembling tears, ravens, feathers with black intricate lace falsies pasted the outer lashes. Hair was wispy and piled up on the models heads in a dishevelled updo topped off with monochrome feather veils.
